The Cobbers traded multiple-run innings with Mayville State in a wind, non-conference game on Thursday. Unfortunately for the Cobbers, the Comets posted the final crooked number and dealt Concordia a 6-5 loss.

The wind was blowing out and the hits and runs were plentiful at Bucky Burgau Field on Tuesday. Concordia and St. John’s combined for 36 runs, nine home runs and 41 hits in their doubleheader split. The Cobbers came away with a 9-6 win in Game 2, while the Johnnies earned a 14-7 victory in the opener.

The late innings were unkind to Concordia at Gustavus on Saturday. The Cobbers gave up six unanswered runs in the final three frames in Game 1 after the opener was tied 6-6 heading into the bottom of the fourth and then led 11-4 in the seventh inning of Game 2 before conceding eight straight runs and losing 12-11.

Concordia battled the wind and Carleton and came away with a 3-1, 11-1 sweep over the Knights. It is the third series sweep for the Cobbers in the last four MIAC doubleheaders.

Concordia was done in by the long ball in its doubleheader at home with Bethel. The Royals scored eight of their 11 runs in the twinbill via the home run and swept the Cobbers 5-0, 6-1.

Playing its third doubleheader in less than a week, Concordia started to find its rhythm and swept Hamline. The Cobbers outlasted the Pipers in the first game to post a 3-2 win in 11 innings. CC used a 10-hit attack to score 11 runs and beat Hamline 11-3 in Game 2.

The Cobbers used an 11-hit attack, and the arm of freshman Grant Anderson, to come away with an 8-0  win in the first game against St. Scholastica but couldn’t get back on offensive track in the finale and lost 6-1.

After a 17-day break between games, Concordia opened up MIAC play at St. Olaf on Tuesday. The Cobbers staged a 3-run rally to tie the game in the sixth inning of Game 1 before falling 4-3 in the bottom of the seventh and then couldn’t string hits together in the nightcap and lost 4-0.

Concordia dropped the final two games of their series at Neb. Wesleyan. CC lost 2-1 in the opener on Saturday and then fell 10-6 in Game 2.

Concordia and Neb. Wesleyan posted a 19-run, 24-hit game in the opener of their 3-game series that went to extra innings before being decided by a walkoff hit-by-pitch.

Catcher Wyatt Gunkel finished Florida by leading the Cobbers in hitting. He posted a .360 average and had a .414 on-base percentage.
