Cobbers Open 2011-12 Campaign

MORRIS, Minn.  (10/29/11)—Concordia opened the 2011 season by competing at the annual UM-Morris Relays. The Cobbers won four different relay events at the meet and came away with four runner-up finishes as they prepared for their first dual meet of the season.

Concordia claimed the win in the 200-yard backstroke relay and the 200-yard breaststroke relay and then won the ever-popular pumpkin push and t-shirt relays. Adva Aharonovich, Kelsey Appert, Emily Erickson and Greta Titus swam a 2:09.91 in the 200-yard backstroke relay to win the event by over :05. CC had four different swimmers capture the 200-yard breaststroke relay. Kirsten Anderson, Alexis Philbrick, Jessie Obrecht and Hannah Winge recorded a time of 2:25.70 in the event and edged the top team from UM-Morris who swam a 2:29.02.

Jasmine Hanson, Alison Kessler, Mara Smith and Winge were the winning team in the pumpkin push relay where contestants have to keep at least one hand on the pumpkin at all times as they swim the length of the pool. The quartet finished the 100-yard event in a time of 1:30.21. The 100-yard t-shirt relay was won by the Cobber relay team that included the divers. Molly Hansvick, Alison Hall, Cindy Moss and Allie Upton rallied from behind and finished in a time of 1:27.87. They won the event with their seamless transition technique.

Hall and Moss also finished first in the two diving events of the day. Hall scored 234.45 points in the 1-meter competition and Moss had a total of 163.05 in the 3-meter event.
