Bio

Nick Magee is in his third season as an assistant coach with the nationally recognized Cobber wrestling program. Like head coach Matt Nagel, Matt brings an impressive wrestling background to the team.

Nick was a collegiate standout for North Dakota State where he earned All-American honors by finishing fourth at the 2004 NCAA Division II National Meet. He was a four-year starter and was the NCC Conference Champion and NCAA North Region Champion at 133 in 2004. In addition, Nick was a two-time NCAA Division II National Meet qualifier (2003,2004). As a senior, in 2005 he was the team captain and team MVP of the Bison’s first NCAA Division I squad.  Nick posted an impressive 19-6 record in his first year wrestling against DI competition.

Nick earned his Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education from NDSU in 2005 and a Master's Degree in Education from St. Catherine's University on 2012.

During his college career Nick compiled a 72-30 career record.  On top of his standout college career, he was also the 2001 and 2002 Northern Plains Senior Freestyle Champion at 60kgs.

Originally from Hudson, Wis., Nick graduated from Hudson High School in 2000 where he was a WIAA Division 1 state runner-up and also a two-time state medal-winner (1998, 2000).

From there, Nick went on to receive a scholarship to wrestle at North Dakota State University. He was a member of the 2001 Bison NCAA Division II Championship Team and 2001 and 2004 National Dual Team title winners.

Nick stayed with the Bison after graduating in 2005 and was a student assistant coach in 2006. After his stint as assistant for NDSU he moved on to be an assistant coach at Apple Valley High School where he helped the Eagles to a 42-2 record and a Minnesota State team title in 2007.

In 2008 he became the Head Coach at Fargo North High School. During his four seasons at Fargo North, Nick coached three state champions, seven state finalists and 21 medal winners. In 2009 and 2010 the Spartans qualified the Spartans for the North Dakota State Team Competition.

Nick and his wife Autumn have three children, son Griffin and daughters Harper and Henley, and live in Fargo, N.D.
