Bisek Adds His Name To Cobber All-American List

ROANOKE, Va. (3/11/23)---The list of Concordia All-Americans has a new entry.

Ty Bisek (New London, Minn./New London-Spicer HS) capped off his stellar sophomore season by finishing sixth at 133 at the national championship meet and became the first Cobber NCAA All-American since Jakob Stageberg in 2016. Bisek becomes the 27th NCAA All-American in the history of the program.

Bisek, who was seeded third heading to the national meet, opened the tournament by posting a hard-fought 6-4 decision over Nico Diaz from Stevens Inst. of Technology.

Bisek faced No.6 Dalton Rohrbaugh of York (Pa.) in the quarterfinals, and the two battled through one of the more exciting matches of the 2-day tournament. The match featured multiple takedowns, and when the dust settled, Rohrbaugh won the offensive wrestling showcase 16-11.

The biggest match of Bisek's season came in the night session on Friday when he squared off against Andrew Perelka of John Carroll. The winner of the match was assured to finish in the Top 8 of the bracket and earn All-American honors. The bout lived up to the hype of the All-American match with each wrestling having control through the three periods.

Bisek was able to use his length and speed to overcome Perelka in the third period and ground out a 6-2 win.

The victory set off a classic national meet All-American round celebration with Bisek racing to the corner to get hugs from the coaching staff, and then jumping into the seats to have a celebration with his parents.

Bisek came back on Saturday and won his first match, a 14-8 decision over Luke Kowolski from Gettysburg. He then lost 9-0 to Tyler Fleetwood of UW-Eau Claire in the consolation semifinals, before giving up his first pin of the year to Dylan Koontz of Dubuque in the 5th-place match.

Bisek ends his season with a 33-5 record. The 33 wins tie for the ninth most by a Cobber wrestler in a single season.

Bisek is now 60-11 in his two seasons in maroon and gold.
