Concordia outscored St. Scholastica 10-5 in the final 2:15 of play to rally from an 11-point deficit in the third quarter and came away with a 76-71 win. Makayla Anderson scored a team-high 24 points while Carlee Sieben was a perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line and added 18 points.

Concordia was outscored 15-4 in a 7-minute stretch sandwiched around halftime which turned their MIAC showdown with Bethel from a close contest into a double-digit deficit.

In the end it was a win. Concordia needed to come up with a huge defensive stand at the end of regulation to force overtime against St. Olaf and then scored the first seven points of the extra session to come away with a “bend but don’t break” 69-63 win.

First-Quarter Stretch Costs Cobbers

Concordia outscored St. Catherine 31-27 in the second half but couldn’t overcome a 14-point halftime deficit and lost 63-53 to the Wildcats. The Cobbers scored 10 of the first 13 points of the game, but St. Catherine responded by scoring 15 consecutive points to take a 20-12 lead into the second period of play.

Concordia could never find its shooting touch against No.8-ranked Gustavus and lost 56-42 in a battle of two of the top three teams in the MIAC.

Winning Grind Continues

The grind continued for the Cobbers. Concordia continues to find ways to win, hold off opponents down the stretch and climb in the MIAC standings. On Wednesday, the Cobber refused to give up the lead in the fourth quarter against Macalester and walked away with a 64-59 win over the Scots.

Another Northfield Nail-Biter

A second consecutive Saturday trip turned into a second straight nail-biter for the Cobbers. Concordia led for 39:01 of the 40:00 minutes in their game at Carleton but only held a double-digit lead for 1:35 as they battled their way to a 54-48 win over the Knights.

Winning Streaks Extended

January 15, 2025

Concordia held off a late-game comeback from St. Benedict and earned a hard-fought 80-68 win in a critical MIAC contest. The victory is the sixth straight over the Bennies – the longest winning streak for CC over CSB since 2005. The win is also the third straight for the Cobbers and sixth in the past seven games.

The Concordia basketball programs pulled off a rare feat as they had a player from both the men’s and women’s teams be named to the D3hoops.com National Teams of the Week. Junior men’s forward Jacob Cook and senior women’s basketball forward Makayla Anderson both earned the D3hoop.com national weekly award.

Makayla Anderson became the 29th player in program history to reach the 1,000-point mark on Saturday, and on Monday, it was only fitting that she was named the MIAC Offensive Player of the Week.
