Halftime Sandwich Is Not Too Tasty
MOORHEAD, Minn. (2/12/25)--- Concordia was outscored 15-4 in a 7-minute stretch sandwiched around halftime which turned their MIAC showdown with league-leading Bethel from a close contest into a double-digit deficit.

The loss drops the Cobbers into sole possession of fifth place in the league standings. CC is now 9-6 in the MIAC and 14-8 in all games. The Royals improve to 14-1 in the conference and 18-4 overall.
Concordia was forced to chase the game from the early stages of the first quarter. Bethel scored the first six points in the game but the Cobbers were able to respond with a 10-4 run to tie the game at 10-10.
At that point, it looked like the contest would go back and forth for the full 40 minutes. That changed at the end of the first quarter when Concordia went cold from the floor and the Royals were able to score eight of the final 10 points in the period.
The Cobbers got to within three points on a trio of occasions in the second quarter but a 7-minute stretch sandwiched around halftime proved to be the key stretch in the game. Concordia trailed by four points with 2:20 left in the half but then Bethel scored the final five points of the opening half and then nine of the first 13 of the second half to push the margin to 14 points.
The Cobbers were never able to get to within 12 points for the final 15 minutes of the game and lost by 15.
Concordia shot 34.0% (18-for-53) from the floor and 28.6% (4-for-14) from outside the arc, while Bethel connected on 49.2% (25-for-51) of their shots from the field and 42.9% (9-for-21) of their tries from distance.
The biggest stat advantage of the game from around the basket where the Royals nearly doubled the Cobbers' rebound total (37-19) and held a 28-20 edge in points in the paint. The 19 boards are a season low for the Cobbers.
Sophomore Alexa Snesrud led Concordia in scoring for the first time this year. She was 4-for-6 from the floor and finished with 10 points.
Carlee Sieben and Greta Tollefson both had nine points with Sieben going 6-for-6 from the free throw line and Tollefson knocking a pair of 3-point baskets.
Makayla Anderson came away with six points, four rebounds and five assists.
Concordia will look to get back on the winning track when they play at St. Scholastica on Saturday, Feb. 15 at 1 p.m.
