A Program-Best Finish At Griak

ST. PAUL, Minn. (9/26/15)—Kaya Baker and Melissa Uhrich helped Concordia post their best-ever finish at the prestigious Roy Griak Invitational hosted by the University of Minnesota.

Baker and Uhrich recorded top 30 finishes and led the Cobbers to a fifth-place finish. That tops the eight-place finishes at the Griak Invite posted in 2005 and 1989. Last year Concordia finished 14th at the same meet.

Baker has been the team's No.1 runner in the past two meets. She recorded a podium finish by crossing the line in 12th place in a time of 24:20. That time is 37-seconds faster than her mark at the Griak in 2014. Baker has now posted top 15 finishes in both her starts this year.

Uhrich continues to find success after coming back from an injury. Uhrich entered the meet with a pair of top 15 finishes in 2015 and ran a 25:03 to finish in 26th place.

As with their previous two meets, Concordia had a pair of freshmen as the team's No.3 and No.4 runners. Brianna Gruenberg ran a 25:19 and was the No.32 runner at the meet. Sarah Kuball gave Concordia four athletes in the top 50. Kuball clocked a 25:57 and placed 44th in her first Griak Invite.

Sarah Curran was the final member of the team's scoring top 5. Curran missed out on the top 50 by six spots. She ran a 26:34 and placed 56th at the meet.
