A Program First - Running At Night

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (9/05/14)—Concordia set program history by competing in their first-ever night meet at the Augustana (S.D.) Twilight. The Cobbers ran through the night to capture 18th place on the tree mile loop course.

The meet featured 22 teams and over 260 individual runners. The schools covered the gamut of NCAA Division I, II and III as well as NAIA.

Kaya Baker used the success she gained in the opening meet of the 2014 season to once again lead the way for Concordia. Baker covered the lighted course in a final time of 18:11.79.

Baker and freshman Sarah Curran were the only two Cobber runners to finish in the top 100 of the meet. Baker's time was good for 85th place while Curran clocked a 18:21.81 and was the No.95 runner in the women's event.

Anna Sneltjes was the No.3 runner on the team for the second straight meet. She raced to a 19:10.43. Here time was 25 seconds ahead of a pack of four runners who all finished within 20 seconds of one another. Sophomore Anja Smith led the quartet with a time of 19:35.18. Susan Drache was next at 19:42.33 while Kaylee Hedberg and Liz Stageberg helped each other along the course and came home in 19:47.62 and 19:54.65.

Next up for Marv Roeske's crew is the annual MSU Moorhead Invite held at Ponderosa Golf Course in Glyndon. The Cobbers will hit the trail on Friday, Sept. 12 at 5 p.m.
