Reeves Named MIAC Field Athlete Of The Week

MOORHEAD, Minn. (2/18/14)—Concordia junior Cherae Reeves was named the MIAC Field Athlete of the Week it was announced by the league office on Tuesday. She earns the award for her outstanding performance at the NDSU Bison Open on Saturday.  

Reeves continued to add to her national caliber shot put totals at the Bison Open. She finished second in the shot put in an event that was dominated by NCAA Division I and II athletes. Reeves bettered 34 other competitors in the event which was won by the North Dakota State school record holder in the event.

Reeves finished with a final distance of 46-07.25 which was over a foot-and-a-half better than the third-place finisher. Her mark was a season best and pushes her farther out in front of anyone else in the MIAC. She is currently ranked No.1 in the conference in the event by almost two feet.

In addition to her dominance at the conference level, Reeves is also ranked in the top 3 of the nation in Division III. Her season-best mark of 46-07.25 is only four inches behind the No.2 athlete in Division III and she is now within 13 inches of the top mark in the nation.

Reeves and the rest of the Cobbers will continue with the indoor season when they compete at the St. Ben's Quadrangular Meet on Saturday, Feb. 22 in Collegeville.
