Jensen Earns Regional Honor - Again

MOORHEAD, Minn. (5/17/13)—For the second straight season Concordia senior Kaari Jensen was named the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Central Region Field Athlete of the Year.

Jensen earned the coaches' association regional award for her continued excellence as an all-around athlete. Jensen won the MIAC heptathlon for the second straight season and also won the conference javelin event. She finished in the top 6 in five different events at the MIAC Meet and scored 34.0 team points to help the Cobbers finish second as a team.

Jensen currently owns the second highest heptathlon in all of NCAA Division III and will qualify to compete in the NCAA National Meet next weekend in La Crosse, Wis. Her top total of the season (4,760) came at the Drake Relays where she was the only DIII competitor and finished in 10th place.

Jensen is currently ranked in the top 100 of the country in seven different track and field events.   
Jensen was named the MIAC Field Athlete of the week on two occasions this spring and earned the weekly award four different times in her career.
