Add One More MIAC Field Athlete Of The Week Award

MOORHEAD, Minn. (4/30/13)—For the third time in her storied career Kaari Jensen has been named the MIAC Field Athlete of the Week. Jensen earned this week's honor for her NCAA qualifying performance in the heptathlon at the Drake Relays last weekend.

Jensen becomes the second Cobber athlete to win MIAC Field Athlete of the Week. Sophomore Cherae Reeves earned the honor on Apr. 9 and Apr. 23. A Concordia athlete has now claimed the conference weekly award in thee of the four weeks this season.

Jensen finished 10th in the prestigious Drake Relays heptathlon. She was the only Division III athlete in the event at the meet. She finished with a total of 4,760 points which was just 69 points shy of her own school record which she set at last year's conference meet at Concordia. Jensen's total is the second highest in the nation this season.

Jensen scored at least 700 points in four of the seven events. Her 700-plus point events included the 200-meter dash, 100-meter hurdles, high jump and 800 meters.

Jensen will now move on to defending her MIAC title in the heptathlon when she competes at the conference meet on May 2-3 at Carleton College.
