Second Straight Late-Game Heartbreak

WINONA, Minn. (10/02/21)---For the second consecutive game, Concordia conceded a goal in the final 15 minutes of play and lost 1-0. On Saturday, the Cobbers gave up the game-winning goal with only 3:46 left in the second half and fell to league-leading St. Mary's.

The game-winning goal came off of a long ball up the middle of the field that bounced 30 yards out from the Cobber goal. A St. Mary's attacker was able to run by the Concordia defense and control the ball at the top of the penalty area. She then fired a low shot into the right corner of the goal past CC goalie Bre Nelson who was coming out to cut down the angle.

St. Mary's (9-1-1, 4-0-1 MIAC) held a 16-5 advantage in total shots and a 7-2 edge in shots on goal.

Concordia junior forward Samantha Holmberg led the team with two shots in the game. She also had one of the two shots on goal. Holmberg now has 11 shots in conference play which is tied for ninth in the MIAC. Freshman Amber Weibye had the second shot on frame for CC.

Nelson made six saves in goal for the Cobbers.
