Fransdal Becomes Fourth Cobber All-American

MOORHEAD, Minn. (12/8/14)—Concordia senior Libby Fransdal became the fourth player in program history to earn All-American honors as handed out by the National Soccer Coaches Association of American (NSCAA). Fransdal caps her career by earning the top honor for a soccer athlete for the first time in her four seasons at Concordia.  

Fransdal is also the third player in the last three seasons to earn All-American honors for Concordia.  

Fransdal joins Samantha Johnson, Sarah Rounds and Ali Nelson as the only players in the 33-year history of Cobber women's soccer to receive the All-American honor. Bains and Rounds were named to the NSCAA All-American Team in both their junior and senior seasons.

Fransdal will leave her mark as the top defender to ever play for Concordia. She started every single game as the team's central defender since joining the squad in the fall of 2011. Fransdal finished her career by playing in 86 games. She played in 14 total postseason games which included four straight MIAC playoffs, three NCAA Tournament appearances and a pair of trips to the NCAA Sweet 16.

Fransdal tied her career high for points in a season in 2014. She finished with two goals and four assists for eight points from her center back position. Both of Fransdal's goals were game-winning scores during the year.    

The All-American award caps a storied career that saw Fransdal earn three consecutive NSCAA All-Region honors. She was on the NSCAA All-North Region Team in both her sophomore and senior seasons. Fransdal also earned MIAC All-Conference honors in her freshman, junior and senior seasons.
