Robinson Named MIAC Player Of The Week

MOORHEAD, Minn. (10/07/14)—Concordia senior midfielder Elizabeth Robinson was named the MIAC Women's  Soccer Player of the Week after scoring thee of the team's four goals last week and helping the Cobbers post a pair of 2-1 conference victories.

It is the first time in her career that Robinson has earned MIAC Player of the Week honors and she becomes the first Concordia player to win the award since the middle of last season when Laura Prosinski was named the MIAC Player of the Week on Oct. 14.

Robinson started the week by scoring the opening goal in the Cobbers' 2-1 win over regionally-ranked Augsburg. She was able to break free of the defense and head home a crossing pass. It was only the third head goal of her collegiate career. She finished with a game-high two shots on net.

On Saturday, Robinson scored both of the team's goals in a 2-1 double overtime victory at St. Mary's. She notched the game-tying goal in the 84th minute on a penalty kick and then won the game with a laser shot to the upper right corner of the net with only 2:04 left in the second overtime period.

Robinson She currently leads the team in scoring with six goals for 12 points. She is tied for fifth in the MIAC in goals this season. Robinson is also second in the league in total shots (34) and tied for the conference lead with teammate Emily Wendorff in game-winning goals (3).    
Robinson, and the rest of the Cobbers, will host a pair of home games for Homecoming Week. Concordia will take on St. Thomas on Wednesday, Oct. 8 and then square off against Hamline on Saturday, Oct. 11. Both games are scheduled to start at 1:30 p.m.
