Prosinski Named MIAC Player of the Week

MOORHEAD, Minn. (10/14/13)—Laura Prosinski added a third consecutive score to her impressive total last week as she was named the MIAC Player of the Week. Prosinski scored both Concordia goals in the team's two games.

The award is the first conference weekly honor for a Concordia player this year. The last CC women's soccer athlete to win the award was goalkeeper Ali Nelson who earned MIAC Player of the Week honors in the last week of the 2012 season.

It is the first time in her career that Prosinski has won MIAC Player of the Week honors.

Prosinski's two goals last week helped push Concordia to the top of the MIAC standings. She notched the game-tying goal in the Cobbers' 1-1 double overtime decision with Augsburg on Monday and then netted the only goal of the game in CC's 1-0 victory at Hamline on Saturday.

The two goals were Prosinski's first of the season. She also has a pair of assists on the year for six total points. She is fourth on the team in scoring this season.

With the tie and win, Concordia is now 8-3-1 in all games in 2013. The Cobbers are 5-1-1 in MIAC play which is good for 16 total points and first place in the league standings. CC will try and add to their conference lead when they host Bethel on Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 1:30 p.m. at Fargo Shanley High School in Fargo. The Cobbers will then have a pair of non-conference games over the mid-semester break weekend.
