Rounds Reaches 100

All-American senior forward Sarah Rounds had a goal and an assist to help No.14-ranked Concordia blank UW-Whitewater 2-0 at St. Scholastica on Friday. The three points helped Rounds surpass the 100-point milestone for her career.

Rounds scored the opening goal of the season in the 12th minute of play when she calmly settled an errant pass from the Warhawk defense 25 yards out from goal and then hammered it over the goalie and into the back of the net. The goal, which proved to be the game winner, gave Rounds 100 points for her career. She becomes the sixth player in program history to reach that prestigious milestone.

Rounds then set up the goal that put the game out of reach. She played Rochelle Hickerson through on the left wing and Hickerson took three touches and the slotted the ball into the short side of the goal. It was Hickerson's second career goal and pushed Rounds' career point total to 101.

The Cobber defense kept the Whitewater offense at bay for most of the game. The Warhawks managed to take only a few quality chances throughout the game and weren't able to beat CC keeper Ali Nelson. Nelson made four saves to collect her 30th career shutout.

Concordia outshot Whitewater 11-6 in total shots for the game and held a  6-5 edge in shots on goal. CC had a 6-3 edge in corner kicks.

The Cobbers will stay in Duluth and play regional foe St. Scholastica on Saturday, Sept. 1 at 5 p.m.
