Goals In Last Half Of Periods Cost Cobbers

MOORHEAD, Minn. (2/10/24)---Concordia allowed a pair of goals 40 seconds apart in the first period, could never recover, and lost 6-0 to No.3-ranked Gustavus.

The Cobbers and Gusties skated to a scoreless tie through the first 13 minutes of the opening period, but then the defending national champions scored at the 13:48 mark and added a second at 14:28 to take control of the game.

Gusvaus (18-4-0, 15-10 MIAC) added three goals in the final 12 minutes of the second period and topped off the sore sheet with a tally at 12:33 of the final frame.

Concordia (5-17-1, 1-14-1) was outshot 57-10 in the game. Jerica Friese and Reagan Wohlers had two shots on goal each to lead CC.

The Cobbers split the goaltending duties for the second straight game. Senior Becca Macklin started the game and played the first two periods. She made 31 saves. Kate Stephens finished the game and stopped 20 shots in 20 minutes of play.
