Goals In Bunches Drop Cobbers At #2 Gustavus

ST. PETER, Minn. (2/10/23)---Senior goalie Kiana Flaig posted another 40-plus save performance but it wasn't enough, as Concordia allowed a pair of goals in each of the first two periods and lost 5-0 at No.2-ranked Gustavus.

The Cobbers gave up a pair of goals in a span of 2:53 in in the first period, and then the Gusties scored two goals in 3:19 in the second frame to come away with the win.

The final goal in the game came at the :19-second mark of the third period.

Flaig turned aside 42 shots in the game as she recorded her third straight 40-plus save game. The 42 saves is a season high and three shy of her career best. Flaig stopped 41 shots in each of the games with Augsburg last weekend.

Gustavus (19-3-0, 14-1-0 MIAC) wins for the third straight game and clinches its 18th MIAC regular-season championship.

The Gusties outshot Concordia 47-10 in the game. Junior Jerica Friese led the Cobbers with a pair of shots on goal.

UP NEXT: Concordia will finish off the road portion of its 2023 schedule when they play at Gustavus on Saturday, Feb. 11 at 2 p.m.
