Klug Earns D3hockey National Honor

MOORHEAD, Minn. (12/07/16)—Concordia senior goalie Andrea Klug added another weekly award to her resume as she was named to the D3hockey.com Team of the Week.

The national award follows her honor as the MIAC Player of the Week which was handed out on Monday.

Klug has now earned D3hockey Team of the Week honors three times in her career. She was awarded the honor on back-to-back weeks last year after posting four consecutive shutouts.

After starting the season on a solid pace for most goalies Klug has kicked her season back into All-Conference status in the past two weeks. She didn't allow a goal during the Cobbers' two-game sweep over St. Mary's last weekend and has only allowed four goals in the past six games. During that time she has lowered her goals against average from the middle3.00's to 2.07.

Her play has helped Concordia post the most MIAC wins before the Christmas break. CC is tied atop the league standings with a 5-2-1 record.

Klug stopped all 39 shots she faced in the two games against St. Mary's. She turned aside 25 attempts on Friday in Concordia's 2-0 win and then made 14 saves on Saturday.

Klug has played every minute of every game for the Cobbers this season and has a 91.0 save percentage. Her seven wins is tied for fourth in all of Division III and she is also tied for seventh in shutouts this year. Klug is also one of only two goalies in the entire nation to play over 600 minutes in goal this year.

Klug has also been adding to her school record totals in shutouts, wins, save percentage and goals against average. Klug has 16 career shutouts, 34 wins, a 92.9 save percentage and a goals against mark of 1.85.

The next chance for Klug and Concordia to up their season win totals will come on Tuesday, Dec. 13 at 7 p.m. when the Cobbers travel to Wisconsin to take on Northland.
