Davis Leads Six MIAC Postseason Winners

MOORHEAD, Minn. (2/26/16)—Sophomore Tori Davis led a group of six Concordia players who earned MIAC postseason honors.

It is the third straight season that the Cobbers have had six players earn conference postseason honors.

Davis was named to the MIAC All-Conference Team while Hannah Johnston, Andrea Klug, Amber Schaack and Anna Westmark all received All-MIAC Honorable Mention honors.

Abby Kratzke was the team's selection for the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team.

Davis, Johnston, Schaack, Westmark and Kratzke all receive league awards for the first time in their career while Klug earns her second straight All-Conference Honorable Mention award.

The quintet of players helped the Cobbers advance to the semifinals of the MIAC playoffs for the sixth straight season. The team posted a 13-11-1 record during the regular season and went 11-7-0 in conference play. Concordia finished in fourth place in the final league standings and beat St. Mary's in the quarterfinals of the conference tournament.

Davis had a breakout season in 2016. After scoring only five goals and having seven total points in 2015, Davis exploded for 17 goals and 23 points in 2016. She had 14 goals and five assists for 19 points in conference play. Her 14 goals was the best of all players in the MIAC and she finished third in the conference in overall points.

Davis had at least one goal in nine of the team's 19 league games. She had four multiple-goal games and scored a career-high three goals in the team's 3-0 win over St. Olaf on Feb. 13. Her three-goal output led to Davis being named the MIAC Player of the Week.

Johnston was one of the Concordia defensive leaders. She helped the Cobbers finish with a 2.00 goals against average in conference play. Johnston also finished with a career-high point total. She had five goals and four assists for nine points in all games and scored the game-winning goal for the Cobbers in the MIAC quarterfinal contest. Johnston finished the year with six points in conference play which was tied for 13th in scoring by a defenseman.

Klug was a wall in goal for the Cobbers all season long. She finished the year with a school-record eight shutouts and 14 wins. She appeared in all 18 league games for CC and posted a record of 11-7-0. Klug  had a 1.82 goals against average and a 93.3% save percentage.  She was named the MIAC Player of the Week on back-to-back weeks at the end of November.

Schaack was an offensive threat on the top line for the Cobbers and helped Concordia finish with 41 goals in 18 conference games. Schaack finished the year with eight goals and eight assists for 16 points in all games and had five goals and seven assists for 12 points in MIAC games. All of her stat totals were career highs. Schaack also finished the year with 112 total shots on goal and had 82 shots against conference opponents. She finished third in the MIAC in shots in league games and had at least five shots in nine conference games. Schaack had a career-high 10 shots on goal in the game vs. Hamline.

Like the other three non-goalies to earn conference postseason honors Westmark also put up career-high point totals. She finished the year with eight goals and six assists for 14 points. In conference play she totaled five goals and four assists for nine points. Westmark was named the MIAC Player of the Week on Nov. 9.
