Two Out Of Three Not Enough

MOORHEAD, Minn.  (11/16/13)—Concordia skated through two scoreless periods with No.7-ranked Gustavus before a goal in the third minute of the third period proved to be the game deciding moment in a 2-0 loss.

The Cobbers received a great effort in goal from freshman Andrea Klug who was making her first collegiate start. Klug turned aside the first 24 shots she faced before giving up the game-winning goal at 2:46 of the third period. Gustavus tacked on an empty-net goal in the final minute of play so Klug wound up stopping 32 of the 33 shots she faced.

Concordia is now 0-4-1 on the season with all five games coming against teams that were ranked in the top 18 of the country. The loss is the second of the series against defending MIAC champion Gustavus and drops CC's conference record to 0-2-0. After starting the season at 1-1-1 the Gusties are now 3-1-1 in all games and 2-0-0 in league play.

The Cobbers had 15 shots in the game. Anna Westmark and Madison Gendreau led CC with three shots each.

Concordia will now head out on the road for the first time in 2013. The Cobbers will face another nationally ranked team as they play at Bethel on Friday and Saturday Nov. 22 and 23.
