Gendreau, Leland And Kratzke Earn MIAC Honors

MOORHEAD, Minn. (2/28/13)—Madison Gendreau, Macy Leland and Abby Kratzke earned MIAC postseason honors it was announced by the league office. Gendreau and Leland were named to the MIAC All-Conference Team for the first time in their careers while Kratzke was Concordia's representative on the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team.

The trio of players helped Concordia post an 11-4-3 record in conference games and finish third in the final league standings. The Cobbers then advanced to the MIAC playoff championship game for the second consecutive year with a win over St. Thomas in the semifinals. The 11 conference victories mark the most in a single season since the 2002-03 campaign. The third-place finish is the third time in the past six seasons that CC has finished in the top 3 of the MIAC standings.

Gendreau, who was named to the MIAC All-Rookie Team last year, led Concordia in scoring in conference games. She recorded at least one point in 13 of the 18 conference games. Gendreau finished with nine goals and seven assists for 16 total points. All three numbers are career highs for the sophomore. Gendreau was seventh in the league in total points in conference games and was sixth in goals scored. She tied for the MIAC lead in shorthanded goals with two.

Leland earns All-Conference honors for the first time in her career but it is the third postseason conference award she has won. She was named to the MIAC All-Rookie Team and earned All-Conference Honorable Mention honors as a freshman back in 2010. Leland was the team's most consistent defenseman and finished league play with three assists. She helped the Cobber penalty kill unit lead the league in efficiency – killing off 90.1% of power play attempts. Concordia was also third in the MIAC in goals against average. (1.78).
