Career-Best Marks Highlight St. Kate's Invite Finish

STILLWATER, Minn. (9/25/22)---Senior Abbey Frauenholtz posted the best 2-round score of her collegiate career and helped Concordia to a 13th-place finish at the St. Kate's Fall Invite. The Cobbers finished the tournament with a team total of 697 (348-349) which is a 61-stroke improvement from last year at the same event.

Frauenholtz started the St. Kate's Invite by carding an 82 on Saturday and then backed that up with an 85 on Sunday. The 2-round total of 167 bettered her previous mark of 170 which she fired in her very first college tournament at the St. Ben's Invite in 2019. Her score over the weekend was also 20 shots clear of her score at last year's invite.

Frauenholtz had three birdies in the two rounds over the weekend. She had pair of birdies on Saturday – a round where she didn't post a score worse than a bogey. Frauenholtz came back and had a single birdie on Day 2, to go along with eight pars.

Frauenholtz leads the team in scoring this season with an 86.5 average.

Besides the career-best from Frauenholtz, sophomore Joss Leach also posted her career-best mark for a 2-round tournament. Leach carded an 87 on Day 1 and then came through with a career-low 81 on Sunday. Her final total score of 168 is 21 shots better than last year's score at the tournament.

Leach has now recorded scores in the 80s in three straight rounds and four of the last six. She is tied for second on the team in scoring with a 90.1 season average.

Junior Lillie Kirchner continued the trend of huge score improvement from last season for Concordia. She was the team's No.3 finisher this year after posting scores of 90 and 85 and finishing with a total of 175. Her final score is 16 shots clear of last year's mark.

Kirchner is tied with Leach for the No.2 spot on the team in scoring this season with a 90.1 stroke average.

Freshman Lauren Lamp continued her upward trend in the last two weeks. She started her collegiate career slowly, but has come on strong in the last two invites. Lamp has fired rounds in the 80s in two of her last three rounds, after not getting below 94 in her first four rounds of the year.

Abbey Hardwick, Allie Aadland and Ellie Johnson were the final three members of the Cobber team over the weekend. Hardwick finished with a total of 202 (105-97), while Aadland – who was playing in her first collegiate tournament – came home in 208 (103-105) and Johnson posted a total of 211 (106-105).

UP NEXT: Concordia will look to carry their recent success over to the MIAC Championship Meet next weekend. The Cobbers will finish off the fall season when they play three rounds at Bunker Hills GC on Oct. 1-3.
