A Consistent 12th-Place Finish

LAKE CITY, Minn. (9/18/16)--- Concordia started the final day of the Division III Classic in 12th place and remained with the status quo as they fired a Day 2 team total of 366 and finished in 12th place.

The Cobbers opened the tournament that featured the top teams from the MIAC and the region with a 345 but then backed up 21 strokes to post their 366 on Sunday.

On Saturday Concordia had all four of their top players, who factor in the team scoring total, break 90 at the Jewel Golf Course. On Sunday the Cobbers didn't have a single golfer in the 80's.

The Cobbers' two most experienced players senior Emily Grace Olson and junior Erin Pennington finished with identical two-day totals of 175. Pennington started the tournament with an 83 and was two shots in front of Olson but then the two flip-flopped scores with Olson firing a 90 and Pennington coming home in 92.

Olson and Pennington have been the team's No.1 and No.2 golfers all season long and are the only Cobbers to have a season scoring average under 90. Pennington leads the team with an 86.3 average while Olson is second at 89.8.

The two players' totals of 175 put them in a tie for 46th place. They were the only two CC players to finish in the top 50 of the tournament which featured 92 golfers from 17 teams.

A pair of first-year golfers were the team's No.3 and  No.4 players for the weekend. Alyssa Dalen shot an 88 on Saturday and then tied Olson's team-low score of 90 on Sunday finished with a 178. Katelin Krueger carded an 89 in Day 1 and then fell to a 94 in the final round to record a two-round total of 183.

WHAT'S NEXT: Concordia will have one more tune-up before the MIAC Championship Meet. The Cobbers will take part in the College City Challenge at Bellwood Oaks GC in Hastings on Saturday, Sept. 24 and Sunday, Sept. 25.
