10-Year NCAA Wait Is Over

MOORHEAD, Minn. (2/26/24)---The 10-year wait is over.

Concordia was selected as one of the 21 at-large teams to compete in the 64-team NCAA Tournament which begins on Mar. 1.

The Cobbers, who finished second in the MIAC regular season and postseason, used the strength of their 20-5 overall record to earn their first trip to the national playoffs since 2014.

Concordia will face Illinois Wesleyan in the first round of the tournament in a game to be played on Friday, Mar. 1 at 5:15 p.m. at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa.

The other two teams in the group of four at Wartburg are the host Knights (25-2) and Wis. Lutheran 23-4).

Concordia will be making its 20th appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Cobbers are 20-19 all-time in the NCAA playoffs and won the Division III national championship in 1988.

Like Concordia, Illinois Wesleyan earned one of the 21 at-large spots in the field by claiming the regular-season championship for the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW). The Titans ended up losing to Carroll in the CCIW tournament championship.

Illinois Wesleyan will be making its 15th appearance in the NCAA Tournament and claimed the natty title in 2012. The Titans' last trip to nationals was in 2022 when they beat DePauw (Ind.) in the first round and lost to Wis.-Whitewater in the second round.
