Depth Downs Bethel In Second Half

MOORHEAD, Minn. (1/20/24)---Concordia used its depth and pressure defense to pull away from Bethel in the second half and come away with a 73-58 win.

The Cobbers trailed at halftime for the first time in 10 games but outscored the Royals 14-6 in the third quarter and 22-14 in the fourth period to record their fifth straight win.

Concordia remains unbeaten at home this year. They are 6-0 in Memorial Auditorium. The Cobbers are 12-3 overall and 11-1 in MIAC play.

The Cobbers trailed 38-37 at the halftime break but limited Bethel to only six points in the third quarter and stepped up the pressure on the defensive end of the court to keep BU from making a 3-point field goal in the entire second half. The Royals were 7-for-18 (38.9%) from distance in the first half, but went 0-for-9 from 3-point range in the second half as the Cobbers didn't allow an uncontested long-distance shot.

Concordia shot 43.9% (25-for-57) from the field and 47.6% (10-for-21) from outside the arc as compared to 36.5% (19-for-52) from the floor and 25.9% (7-for-27) from distance.

The Cobbers finished the game right on their season free throw average as they went 13-for-16 from the foul line.

Concordia had eight players with at least two points. Carlee Sieben had a team-high 19 points after going 4-for-6 from distance. She also posted a team-high five assists.

Emily Beseman only had three points in the first half, but then went 4-for-6 from the field in the final 20 minutes of play and finished with 15 points and seven rebounds.

Greta Tollefson gave CC three players with at least 10 points in the game. She was 3-for-6 from the floor and had 10 points to go with five rebounds.

Makayla Anderson grabbed a team-high eight rebounds and also had eight points.
