Home Court Pressure Secures Conference Win

MOORHEAD, Minn. (01/15/24)---Concordia remained unbeaten at home as they led from gate-to-wire in a 72-52 win over Augsburg.

The Cobbers held the Auggies to only six points in the first quarter, and led by double digits for the entire second half, in running their home record to 4-0 this season. CC is now 16-1 in the last two seasons in games played inside Memorial Auditorium.

Concordia also wins its 10th game of the 2023-24 season, which marks the second straight year that CC has reached a double-digit win total. The Cobbers up their MIAC mark to 9-1 and remain in sole possession of second place in the league standings.

The Cobbers were able to use their depth to pressure Augsburg all game long. Concordia forced the Auggies into 21 turnovers and held Augsburg to 17.4% (4-for-23) shooting from outside the arc.

On the offensive side of the court, the Cobbers had 11 players with at least two points and used the combination of Emily Beseman and Carlee Sieben to score 50.0% of their total points.

Both Beseman and Sieben finished with 16 pts. In the game.

Beseman had a huge "stat stuffer" game. In addition to her 16 points, she also had six rebounds, five steals and four assists.

Sieben was 4-for-9 from 3-point range and also posted three helpers.

Makayla Anderson had a team-high seven rebounds to go with six points.

Molly Musland provided an offensive spark in the first half. She came off the bench to score nine points and was 4-for-5 from the free throw line.

Concordia continues to set the standard in Division III at the free throw line. The Cobbers went 18-for-19) against the Auggies and are shooting 80.3% for the year, which is tops in Division III.
