A Saturday Stroll

MOORHEAD, Minn. (2/11/23)---The Cobbers started their final homestand of the season with its most dominating conference performance of the year.

Concordia gave up the first basket in their game with St. Scholastica, but then steamrolled the Saints on their way to an 87-57 win. The 30-point margin of victory is the most of any MIAC game this season.

The win gives the Cobbers a 19-4 overall record, and a 16-4 mark in conference play. CC is now one win away from clinching second place in the conference standings – and the No.2 seed in the upcoming MIAC playoffs.

Concordia earned its 19th overall win with a superior inside game. The Cobbers outscored the Saints 42-14 in points in the paint, and held a 39-26 advantage in rebounds. CC also came down with their third highest offensive rebound total in league play. Concordia hauled in 14 offensive boards which was two shy of their total when the teams played for the first time in Duluth in November.

The Cobbers also used their depth to wear down St. Scholastica. While the Saints used a total of eight players in the game, Concordia had 11 players score and had 15 players log at least 4-minutes of playing time.

Sophomore post player Makayla Anderson led a group of four players with a double-digit point total. Anderson led the inside charge with 17 points and five rebounds. The 17 points ties her second highest point total of the year, and is her 13th double-digit point total of the season.

Emily Beseman finished the day by going 7-for-12 from the floor and posting 16 points. Beseman is now fifth in the MIAC in scoring with a 15.0 ppg average.

Jordyn Kahler finished with 14 points on a 4-for-7 shooting afternoon.

Mary Sem was able to get free around the basket for most of the game, went 5-for-6 from the floor and tied her season high with 11 points.

Sophomores Symone Beld and Carlee Sieben led all players with six rebounds each. Beld also had nine points, while Sieben ended the game with six points.
