Anderson's First Career Double-Double Not Enough In Loss At St. Olaf

NORTHFIELD, Minn. (02/02/22)--- Freshman Makayla Anderson scored 13 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to record her first college double-double, but it wasn't enough to overcome a 21-point deficit at St. Olaf and the Cobbers dropped a 64-56 decision in Northfield.   

The Cobbers were outscored by seven points in the first quarter and then by two converted touchdowns in the second period as they had their 4-game win streak come to a halt. CC is now 7-9 in all games and 7-7 in the MIAC.

St. Olaf wins for the first time in three games and is now 7-12 overall and 6-10 in conference play.

The Cobbers didn't make a 3-point field goal in the first half and shot 31.8% (7-for-22) from the floor in the first 20 minutes of play. The Oles were able to build there 21-point lead by shooting 53.3% (16-for-30) from the field and 37.5% (3-for-8) from distance in the opening two periods of play.

Concordia trailed by as many as 22 points in the third quarter, but cut the deficit to single digits when Mary Sem scored on a layup with 1:12 left in the period.

The Cobbers then made a bid to climb all the way out of the first-half hole by going on a 9-0 run at the start of the fourth quarter. The teams traded points until a Jordyn Kahler cut the lead to three points with 1:27 left in regulation.

Unfortunately for CC, St. Olaf connected on a 3-pointer on their next possession, and held the Cobbers scoreless for the remaining 64-seconds.

Anderson went 4-for-6 from the floor and led Concordia with 13 points. She also grabbed six offensive boards to get to her season-best of 11 rebounds and record her first collegiate double-double.

Mary Sem and Kahler gave Concordia a trio of double-digit scorers. Sem had 11 points to go along with four rebounds, while Kahler led the team in 3-point field goals and finished with 10 points. She also had four steals.
