Lippert Enjoys A Little Pre-Thanksgiving Stuffing

DULUTH, Minn. (11/17/12)—Alexandra Lippert had an extra helping of stuffing on the Saturday before Thanksgiving as she stuffed the stat sheet in helping Concordia post a 75-52 win at St. Scholastica. Lippert scored 15 points, grabbed 15 rebounds and blocked three shots in helping Concordia to their first win of the season.

Lippert was one of four Cobber starters in double digits in scoring for the game. Tricia Sorensen had 13 points while Erika Jossart went 5-for-6 from the floor and finished with 12 points. Alley Fisher added 11 points on a 5-for-10 shooting performance.

Concordia (1-1) trailed early in the contest as they struggle to find their rhythm on offense. The Cobbers finally got on track midway through the opening half after they trailed 17-16. CC would score the next eight points in the game, take a 24-17 lead and never trail from that point forward. Concordia then eased the score to a 13-point margin at the half.

St. Scholastica  (0-1) could only get as close as 12 points in the second half as they lost their season opener. The Saints had two players with more than nine points in the game. Kayla Heisler finished with a team-high 14 points and Mariah Hovick had 13.

Lippert also led the charge for Concordia's "bigs" who completely dominated the game. The Cobbers doubled up St. Scholastica on rebounds – coming away with a 52-26 advantage. CC also had a 48-14 edge in points in the paint and a comfortable 20-8 margin in second chance points.  Concordia had four players with at least six rebounds in the game. Besides the 15 from Lippert, Sorensen hauled down nine boards and Emily Thesing and Erin Januschka had six rebounds each.

Concordia will stay on the road to open the 2012-13 season. The Cobbers will play at Minot State on Tuesday, Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. in their final non-conference game of the year.
