Olson Posts Second Top 25 Finish At MIAC Meet

NORTHFIELD, Minn. (10/28/23)---Tanner Olson finished his conference career in style as he earned All-Conference Honorable Mention honors at the MIAC Championship Meet.

Olson finished in 25th place and helped Concordia finish in seventh place in the final team standings. That marks the second time in the last four contested conference meets that the Cobbers have finished in seventh place.

Olson covered the 8K course in a time of 26:02.7. That mark was less than 10 seconds out of the Top 20 and a full minute faster than the time he posted on the same course at the Running of the Cows meet in the middle of September.

It is the second MIAC Honorable Mention award for Olson in his career. He finished 18th at the 2021 meet, which was won by current assistant coach Munir Isahak.

While Olson was the standout for the experienced Cobber runners, the brother tandem of Tyler and Brady Goss showcased the future for CC. The two first-year runners posted Top 35 finishes in their very first conference meet and missed the award ceremony by 18 seconds.

Tyler Goss was the team's No.2 finisher with a time of 26:18.1. He placed 32nd out of the 177 competitors but was third among all freshmen runners at the meet.

Brady Goss was right behind Tyler down the chute as he clocked a 26:20.6 and finished in 35th place.

It's the first time since 2021 that Concordia has placed three runners in the Top 35 at the conference meet.

Senior Lucas Hinojos and sophomore Carter Ferber closed out the scoring crew for the Cobbers. Hinojos ran a 27:41.9 and was 84th, while Ferber crossed the line in 27:48.9 and was the No.90 finisher.

All five of Concordia's scoring team recorded times that were faster than they posted at the Carleton course at the September meet.

UP NEXT: The Cobbers will have two weeks to train in preparation for the NCAA North Regional Meet, which will be held on Saturday, Nov. 11 at Whitetail GC in Colfax, Wis. CC ran on that same course at the end of September at the UW-Eau Claire Blugold Invitational.
