Cobbers Are Off And Running In 2023

MOORHEAD, Minn. (9/8/23)---The Cobbers opened their 2023 campaign by competing at the annual MSU Moorhead Twilight Meet. Concordia had a pair of runners finish in the Top 20 and placed sixth out of 11 teams in the final team standings.

Concordia was led by the bookend tandem of senior Tanner Olson and freshman Tyler Goss, who crossed the line in the Top 20 of individual finishers. Olson, was the team's No.4 runner in 2022 and  paced CC with a time of 19:07.80 over the 6K course that wound around Alex Nemzek Stadium.

Olson used the momentum of last year's NCAA Regional Meet to step into the No.1 spot in the 2023 opener. He recorded his first sub-27-minute finish at the NCAA Regional last year and is poised for a breakout year in 2023.

Goss was four spots behind Olson as he clocked a 19:11.50 and placed 16th in his first collegiate competition.

Lucas Hinojos and Carter Ferber were the other two members of the Cobbers who finished in the Top 40 of the meet. Hinojos crossed the line in a time of 19:52.20 and was the No.31 finisher, while Ferber just missed out on a sub-20-minute time and as 39th with a mark of 20:06.60.

Cole Nowacki was the final member of the Cobbers' scoring team. He posted a time of 20:36.50 and made the Top 50 of individuals in a meet that featured 96 runners.

UP NEXT: Concordia will have a 2-week break before competing in the Running of the Cows Invitational hosted by Carleton. The meet will be held at the same course that will host the MIAC Championship Meet.
