Misfortune In The Final Mile Costs Cobbers

NORTHFIELD, Minn.  (11/10/12)—A collision in the final mile cost Concordia three team spots at the NCAA Central Region Meet and dropped the Cobbers to 18th place in the final team standings.

Despite the misfortune in the final stretch of the race, Concordia received career performances from Scott Anderson and Henry Dobbs and closed out the season by finishing in the top 20 at the regional meet. Anderson, the team's No.4 runner raced to a 28:25.2 while Dobbs was the team's No.5 runner and finished in a time of 28:27.5. Both athletes were among only a handful of MIAC runners to improve on their time from MIAC Meet which was held in St. Paul at Como Park Golf Course in St. Paul.

The misfortune for the Cobbers came in the file of the 8k race when Ryan Sederquist, the team's No.3 runner, got caught up in a pack of runners and crashed to the ground. He had to stay on the ground for several seconds to get composed before getting up and hobbling to the finish line. Sederquist wound up losing around 50 full seconds on his finishing time and that fall dropped CC from 15th to 18th place in the final team standings.

Tanner Sakrismo held true to his status as one of the top 2 runners for CC all season long. He ran a 26:58.7, finished in 56th place and was the team's No.1 runner at the meet.

Sederquist, who was on pace to finish in the top 75, wound up placing 95th with a time of 27:48.5. Brad McConn was the team's No.3 runner after spending most of the entire season in the top 2 for CC. He clocked a 27:56.00 and was the 100th runner to cross the finish line.
