Sakrismo and Sederquist Lead The Way At Olaf Invite
NORTHFIELD, Minn. (9/15/12)—Competing without their top runner, Concordia finished 12th at the 21-team St. Olaf Invite. The Cobbers were led by Tanner Sakrismo and Ryan Sederquist who finished within 7-seconds of one another and both placed in the top 35.
Concordia entered the meet without Brad McConn who had been ill the entire week. McConn won the season-opening Valley City Invite and posted a top 20 finish at last week's St. John's Invite.
Sakrismo and Sederquist picked up the slack for McConn. Sakrismo ran a season-best 27:03 on the 8K course, was the top CC finisher for the second straight week as he finished in 28th place. Sederquist pushed himself throughout the race and clocked a season-best 27:09. His time is right at a career best and almost a full minute better than his time at the SJU Invite last Saturday.
Henry Dobbs, Luke Lagergren and Tim Peterson finished out the top 5 runners for Concordia. Dobbs, who has put in significant mileage in the early season, ran a sub-29:00 for the first time this season and was in 86th place. Lagergren came home in 29:14 and Tim Peterson was 20-seconds behind at 29:34.
Concordia will now have a two-week break to train before competing in the U of M Roy Griak Invite on Saturday, Sept. 29.
