Cobbers Battle Bethel Before Heading To Florida

FARGO, N.D. (2/24/24)---Concordia dropped an 8-1 decision to Bethel in a conference match that was played at Courts Plus in Fargo.
 
The loss drops Concordia's season record to 1-6. CC is 0-3 in the MIAC. Bethel moves to 4-3 in all matches and 1-1 in league play.

The doubles play started in Concordia's favor with the No.3 duo of Hunter Rice and Daniel Skrade claiming an 8-3 win to put CC up 1-0. The win for Rice and Skrade is their team-leading third of the year. They are 3-2 for the season with all three victories coming in the No.3 doubles spot. 

The No.1 and No.2 doubles matches went back and forth before the Royals were able to post an 8-4 win at No.1 and an 8-6 victory at the No.2 spot.

First-year player Isaac Maddock squared off in the closest singles match of the afternoon. Maddock lost the opener 6-1, but then came back to record a 6-4 win in the second set. The super-set tie-breaker was decided in the final points with Maddock falling 10-8.

UP NEXT: Concordia will head to Florida for its annual spring break training trip. The Cobbers will play five matches from Mar. 4-7.
