Cobbers Finish Off Southern Swing

ORLANDO, Fla. (03/03/2022)---Concordia finished off its annual spring trip to Florida by dropping a 6-3 decision to Regis (Mass.) and falling 9-0 to Calvin (Mich.).

The Cobbers finish off their southern swing with an 0-5 record. CC is now 0-8 in all matches.

Against Regis, Concordia headed into singles play trailing 2-1 after the No.3 doubles team of Logan Voigt and Sean Martin rolled to an 8-2 win.

Perhaps the best match of the morning came at No.1 doubles where senior Jake Peters and junior Eli Simonson went back and forth before losing an 8-6 nail-biter.

Voigt would claim one of the two Cobber singles wins against the Pride. He put up the "double bagel" 6-0, 6-0 win at No.6 singles. The win was Voigt's second of the season and second in Florida. He led the Cobbers in singles play during their spring trip.

The other singles victory came at No.5 singles where Grant Storm earned a straight set 6-2, 6-2 win to record his first singles victory of the season.

Simonson had a chance to make it three singles wins for the Cobbers but he couldn't come up with the key points and fell 6-4, 7-5 at No.3 singles.

Peters and Simonson almost pulled off another win at No.1 doubles against Calvin, but wound up losing by an identical 8-6 margin.

Peters then played in the closest singles match of the afternoon. He dropped the first set 6-0, but then rallied in the second before losing 7-5.

UP NEXT: Concordia will fly in to the airport in Minneapolis and then head to Lakeville to take on Carleton on Saturday, Mar. 5 at 1:30 p.m.
