Cobbers Edged In Final Non-Conference Game

RIPON, Wis. (10/23/23)---Concordia held an advantage in every statistical category in their game at Ripon but couldn't find the back of the net and lost 1-0.

The Cobbers held a 21-9 advantage in total shots, a 6-4 edge in shots on goal and a 5-2 margin in corner kicks, but a penalty kick in the eighth minute of the second half proved to be the difference in the 1-goal game.

The loss finishes off the non-conference schedule for Concordia. The Cobbers ended the year with a 3-4-0 record against non-league opponents. CC is 4-10-2 overall, with one game remaining in the 2023 season.

Concordia's best half of play came in the opening 45 minutes, where they outshot the Red Hawks and had quality chances. The Cobbers outshot Ripon 11-2 in the first half.

The game changed at the 52:18 mark when Concordia was whistled for a foul inside the penalty area. Ripon converted on the spot kick and made it stand up for the final 37 minutes of play.

The penalty kick was the eighth of the season conceded by the Cobbers, which is a school record for most penalty kicks given up in a single year.
