Cobbers Stay In Dubuque; Fall 4-1 At Loras

DUBUQUE, Iowa. (9/03/23)---Less than 24 hours after posting a season-opening win at Dubuque, Concordia stayed in the city limits and dropped a 4-1 decision to A-R-C preseason favorite Loras.

The Duhawks scored the first four goals of the game before junior transfer Leo Dunor notched his second goal in as many games to bring the final total to 4-1.

Loras, who received five of the nine first-place votes in the A-R-C preseason coaches' poll, scored a pair of goals in each half.

The game's turning point came in the 7 minutes before the halftime break and 13 minutes after intermission. The Duhawks were able to come away with three goals in that 20-minute span, which turned a 1-0 close game into a 4-goal gap.

Dunor's second goal of the season came at the 70:40 mark and was unassisted.

Loras outshot the Cobbers 17-6 in total shots and 14-3 in shots on goal. The Duhawks took 10 corners as opposed to three for Concordia.

Dunor, Gannon Brooks and Owen Gallo had the three shots on frame for CC.

Junior Jensen Waltz posted a career-high save total for the second straight game. On Saturday, he turned aside eight shots in the 2-1 win and on Sunday, he upped that total by a single save and finished with nine stops.
