Cobbers Run Into Immovable Object

MOORHEAD, Minn. (10/23/21)---Concordia ran into the immovable object when they hosted No.10-ranked St. Olaf. The Oles scored three goals in a span of 9:14 in the first half and beat the Cobbers 6-2.

Concordia (5-11-0, 2-6-0 MIAC) got a goal back in the 27th minute, but then the Oles scored three consecutive goals before CC could add a second to bring the final total to 6-2.

Junior Telvin Vah added to his league-leading total as he scored the Cobbers' first goal of the game. Concordia was awarded a penalty kick at the 26:38 mark. Vah calmly stepped up and buried the spot kick for his 13th goal of the year. He has scored at least one goal in six straight games, and has nine goals in the period. Vah now has 31 points on the year and leads the MIAC in goals and points.

Freshman Kayden Aberle recorded his first college goal in the 88th minute of play. He played a give-and-go passing combination with fellow first-year player Mason Weninger and dribbled into the penalty area on the right side of goal. He beat an Ole defender and then lofted a shot to the back post as he was falling backwards. The ball arced over the goalie and dropped into the left side of the goal.

St. Olaf (14-1-1, 8-0-0 MIAC) held a 12-5 advantage in total shots and a 9-2 edge in shots on goal.

Vah led CC with a pair of shots on the day.

Freshman goalie Jenson Waltz made three saves in the game.
