Too Much 24

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (9/14/14)—Don't expect Concordia to have a marathon binge-watching party of the television show "24" any time soon. The Cobbers had enough of the No.24 in Colorado Springs on Sunday as they conceded five goals in a span of 24 minutes just before halftime and lost 6-0 to No.24-ranked Colorado College 6-0.

Concordia could have used Jack Bauer to help solve the mystery of the Tiger offense. The Cobbers gave up six goals for the first time since the 2011 season. The game against Colorado College signaled the end of the "preseason" non-conference portion of the schedule for Concordia. The Cobbers are still looking for their first win of the season but have the knowledge that they played one of the toughest six-game stretches to start the season in the country. CC played a pair of nationally ranked teams in the first six games of the year. They have also played against three teams that are ranked in the top 10 of the region. All told, the Concordia opponents this year have a combined 19-8 overall record.

The win gives Colorado College five straight wins and ups their season record to 5-1.

Concordia played even with the Tigers for the first 15 minutes of the game and was able to get possession deep in the Tiger end. The game was an end-to-end affair before the Tigers struck for their first of five first-half goals in the 21st minute of play. Colorado College would then add three more goals at 25:09, 33:04, 38:45 and 44:59. The Cobbers were struck with the five-goal outburst before they could get to the break and make adjustments.

Colorado College would add one more goal in the second half of play to bring the final tally to 6-0.

Concordia was outshot 33-4 for the game. The Cobbers had four different players record shots for the game with senior captain Justin Flack coming up with the only shot on goal.

Freshman goalie Alan Scheuermann made eight saves in his second collegiate start.

The Cobbers will have six days to prepare for the start of the MIAC season. The tough schedule doesn't take a break as Concordia will host conference preseason favorite, and reigning league champion, on Saturday, Sept. 20 at 1 p.m.
