1, 2 & 3 Unbeaten To Start Season

MOORHEAD, Minn. (11/03/23)---Make it three straight games to start the season without a loss for Concordia. The Cobbers extended its unbeaten streak by scoring the first four goals against Northland and cruised to a 6-2 win.

It's the first time since the 2006-07 season that Concordia has started the season unbeaten in its first three games.

Concordia came out flying immediately after the National Anthem finished playing. The Cobbers scored three goals in the first 10 minutes of play and outshot the Lumberjacks 19-1 in the first period.

Zach Stoner opened the scoring with his first collegiate goal at 2:13. Caden Triggs would follow with his second goal of the year at 4:11 before Mason Plante completed the trio of first-period goals with a nugget at 9:58.

Defenseman Cole Lehmann would make it four straight strikes to start the game when he netted a goal in the second minute of the second period.

Northland (1-2-0) would put together back-to-back goals at 3:59 and 8:08.

Any thought of a big rally was quickly squashed by junior Isaac Henkemeyer-Howe when he stopped the Lumberjack's momentum with a goal just 1:11 after the lead had been cut to 4-2.

Hunter Olson finished the scoring when he put up his first goal of the year with 4:14 left to play in the second period.

The third period turned into a tight-checking 20 minutes, with the teams combing for eight penalties.

The Cobbers outshot Northland 41-15 in the game. Senior All-American Liam Haslam led all players with five shots in the game.

Freshman netminder Dane Couture made 13 saves in his first collegiate start to pick up the first win of his career.
