Skate Is On The Other Foot at Superior

SUPERIOR, Wis. (11/04/22)---On Friday night, Concordia scored two goals in the third period to come away with a 3-1 win. On Saturday, the skate was on the other foot as Wis.-Superior netted two goals in the first 6-minutes of the third period and handed the Cobbers a 5-4 loss.

The loss evens Concordia's season record at 2-2. The Yellowjackets are now 1-1 for the year.

The Cobbers appeared to be headed to their second straight win of the weekend as they scored three goals in the second period to take a 3-1 lead midway through the middle frame.

Troy Dahlheimer scored a shorthanded goal at 4:23 of the second period to tie the game at 1-1. Isaac Henkemeyer-Howe and Jaret Lalli got the assists on the opener for CC. For Henkemeyer-Howe it would be the first of his two points in the game.

Concordia would grab a 2-1 lead just 80-seconds later when Caden Triggs scored his second goal of the weekend. Senior Jacen Bracko set up the go-ahead goal. Freshman Joe Harguindeguy would extend the lead to 3-1 when he also scored his second goal of the weekend at the 8:56 mark. Liam Haslam and Bauer Barry earned the helpers for Harguindeguy's team-leading third goal of the season.

Superior countered the Cobbers 3-goal streak with four straight of their own. They scored two goals in the final 7-minutes of the second period, and then opened the third with the tandem of strikes at 1:43 and 5:16.

Concordia was able to get to within one goal after they pulled goalie Jackson Nelson with 2:17 left in the third period. Concordia held a decided 32-21 edge in shots on goal. CC was 0-for-4 on the power play, while Superior went 1-for-5 with the extra skater. The Cobbers went 0-for-9 on the power play in the two games on the weekend.
