MOORHEAD, Minn. (11/06/21)---Concordia conceded four unanswered goals in the final 48 minutes of play and lost 5-3 against Wis.-River Falls.
The Cobbers grabbed a 3-1 lead with a power play goal from Parker Simonson at the 7:56 mark of the opening period, but then watched as the Falcons netted a single goal in the first and then three more in the second to come away with the victory.
Concordia is now 1-2-1 on the season, while River Falls remains unbeaten at 3-0-1.
The game was an intense affair with the teams combining for 17 penalties and 56 penalty minutes.
The Cobbers took advantage of their power play chances. They scored a pair of goals with the man advantage. Brady Tatro gave Concordia a 2-1 lead at the 7:42 mark of the first period when he scored the first two goals on a 5-on-3 situation. Simonson pushed the lead to two goals when he scored 14-seconds later.
For Tatro, it was his second goal in as many games and his team-leading third tally of the year.
Kevin Ness opened the scoring for Concordia. He put home an even-strength goal at the 3:26 mark of the first period. Keaton Leininger and Nicholas Ness had the assists on the first goal of the game.
River Falls held a 21-18 edge in shots on goal for the game. Senior defenseman Alex Stoley had a game-high five shots on goal.
Sophomore goalie Aaron Dickstein made 29 saves in his second start of the season.
