Mills Nets MIAC Weekly Award

MOORHEAD, Minn. (12/12/16)—Concordia junior forward Dalton Mills used a four-point game against Wis.-Stout to become the second consecutive Cobber to earn MIAC Player of the Week honors.

Mills joins freshman goalie Sam Nelson as back-to-back winners for Concordia of the conference weekly award. It is the first time that the Cobbers have had back-to-back MIAC Player of the Week winners since the 2012-13 season.

Mills earns his first-ever conference weekly award after scoring two goals and adding two assists in Concordia's win over Wis.-Stout on Friday. He had a hand in four of the team's six goals in the 6-1 win.

Mills also had the game-winning goal against the Blue Devils which was his third game winner of the season. He is currently tied for the lead in the MIAC in game winners and is tied for second in all of Division III.

Mills scored the team's second goal against Stout on a breakaway at the start of the second period. He then added an insurance tally at the 7-minute mark. His two assists came on the Cobbers' next two goals as CC cruised to the non-conference win.

Mills now has seven goals on the season which leads Concordia. That total is also tied for third in the MIAC. Mills' seven goals are more than his combined total in his first two seasons in maroon and gold. He currently has seven goals and two assists for nine points on the season. Mills had nine points total in his freshman and sophomore seasons.

Mills' play has helped Concordia win three straight games and post a 7-4 overall record before the Christmas break. The seven wins is the most that CC has recorded before the first of year since the 2013-14 season when they were 8-3-1 before the break.

Mills' next opportunity for a game winner will come on Jan. 6 and Jan. 7 when Concordia hosts Wis.-Superior and Wis.-River Falls at the Moorhead Sports Center.
