Benson Ranked No.12 In Division III

MOORHEAD, Minn. (11/17/23)---Concordia junior Gabe Benson (Fargo, N.D./Fargo Davies HS) was ranked as the No.12 men's golfer in NCAA Division III in the very first Spikemark rankings.

The Spikemark rankings are statistical and replace longtime provider Golfstat.

Concordia is ranked No.47 in the team rankings in the initial Spikemark rankings. They are the fourth-highest ranked MIAC team after finishing third at the conference meet.

Benson became the second Cobber golfer in program history to win the MIAC Championship Meet medalist honors when he fired a 5-under total at the conference meet held on Sept. 30-Oct. 2.

Benson's win at the MIAC Championship Meet bookends his breakout fall season that saw him capture medalist honors at the season-opening Augsburg Invite, post four Top 5 finishes and lead the Cobbers in five of their six meets. He finished the year with a 72.3 average over 16 rounds, which was third lowest in the conference. Benson fired three rounds in the 60s this year with a career-best score of 66 coming in the second round of the Augsburg Invite.
