Jenson Leads Cobbers At Spring Opener

LE SUEUR, Minn. (4/23/23)---Junior Ryan Jenson led Concordia in their spring opener at the Bobby Krig Invitational hosted by Gustavus.

Jenson finished with a 2-day total of 157 (77-80) to finish in a tie for 34th place and help the Cobbers place 12th in the final team standings.

Concordia carded a 316 on Saturday at the New Prague GC. They followed that with a 314 at the Le Sueur CC on Sunday to finish with a total of 630.

The 77 shot by Jenson on Day 1 was tied for the low round by a Cobber on the weekend. Jayce Johnson, Sam Henke and Justin Lamp posted identical 77s on the second day at Le Sueur CC.

Johnson was the No.2 finisher for the Cobbers. He opened with an 81 and was tied for 41st place with a total of 158.

Freshman Gabe Benson joined Jenson as the only two members of Concordia not to shoot above 80 for the weekend. Benson opened with a 79 and then came home with an 80 to finish at 159 and tie for 49th place.

Lamp and Sam Henke were deadlocked at 162 to post the No.4 and No.5 scores for CC. Both players shot identical rounds of 85 and then 77.

Freshman All-Conference golfer Landon Olson was No.6 for Concordia. He had a 79 on Saturday but then fell back with an 83 on Sunday.

UP NEXT: Concordia will finish its spring schedule when they travel to Central Minnesota to compete in the St. John's Spring Invite on Apr. 29-30.
