Papachek Finishes Career With All-MIAC Honors

MOORHEAD, Minn. (5/11/15)—By virtue of his third-place finish at the MIAC Championship Meet last fall, Concordia senior Coy Papachek earned All-Conference honors on the spring conference award list.

Cobber sophomore Cade Montplaisir was the team's representative on the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team.

This marked the second season the MIAC Golf All-Conference teams were selected using a combination of MIAC championship results and end-of-season voting. The top 10 finishers (including ties) at the MIAC championships in October automatically earned All-MIAC honors, and the coaches nominated and voted to add five additional players to the 15-member squad based on their body of work throughout the season.

The award marks the second straight season Papachek has earned MIAC All-Conference honors. Last year he was one of the additional players that were voted on to the 15-member squad.

Papachek led the team in scoring average in 2014-15. He finished with a 74.9 average in his 14 rounds of play during the fall and spring seasons. His best round was 70 which he shot on four occasions including the second round of the Concordia Invite, both rounds of the Augsburg Fall Invite and the final round of the MIAC Championship Meet.

Papachek won the highly competitive Augsburg Fall Invitational by shooting a two-round total of 140 (70-70).

During the season he posted a pair of top 5 finishes and three top 20 finishes.

Papachek secured his spot on the All-Conference list with his third-round score of 70 at the MIAC Meet last fall. He started the tournament with a 74 then added a 78 in the second round. His three-day total of 222 was a career-best at the conference meet for Papachek.
