Welcome Back Landon

SARTELL, Minn. (9/14/14)—Concordia shot a second-day team score of 317 and finished in 10th place at the St. John's Fall Invite. The Cobbers were led by Landon Poss who fired a 156 (79-77) and tied for 22nd in the individual standings.

Concordia entered the weekend having finished in a tie for third at the Augsburg Invite. CC shot a sub-300 round and then another just over 300 at the Augsburg Invite but were unable to duplicate that success at St. John's. The Cobbers came home with a 315 in the first day at Greystone GC in Sauk Centre and then added the 317 at Blackberry Ridge GC in Sartell.

Poss led the Cobbers after sitting out all of the spring season and the first two tournaments of the fall due to an injury. He returned to competitive golf by shooting a 79 on Day 1 and then going two shots lower on the final day with a 77.

Poss was the only Concordia golfer to finish in the top 25 of the tournament. Coy Papachek, who won the Augsburg Invite individual title and was named the MIAC Men's Golfer of the Week, matched Poss' 79 on Saturday but then carded a 78 on Sunday and finished at 157 which was good for a tie for 31st place.

Sam Christian and David Vaughan tied at 159 and were tied for the No.42 spot in the 102-player tournament. Christian went 79-80 while Vaughan improved by three shots on the second day after firing an 81 on the opening day.

Cade Montplaisir rounded out the top 5 finishers for Concordia. He shot identical 80's to finish at 160 and place in a tie for 52nd place.

Concordia will continue with their fall schedule when they compete in the UM-Morris Invitational on Thursday, Sept. 18 at Pomme De Terre GC.
