Poss' Second Place Leads To Another Top 5 Finish

Poss' Second Place Leads To Another Top 5 Finish

COON RAPIDS, Minn. (10/07/13)—Sophomore Landon Poss fired a final round 72 to finish second at the MIAC Meet at Bunker Hills GC on Monday. Poss' even-par round helped the Cobbers climb one spot and finish fourth in the final team standings.

Poss has now earned back-to-back All-MIAC honors in his first two collegiate seasons. His score of 72 on Monday tied for the low round of the day. He was one of three golfers at the meet that didn't post an over-par final total. Poss finished with a three-day total 223 (71-80-72) which was four shots better than his score from last year when he finished in a tie for eighth place.

Concordia's fourth-place finish marks the seventh time in the last 10 seasons the team has posted a top 5 finish at the conference meet. The fourth-place finish is the highest place for the Cobbers during that streak. CC has now finished fourth four times during that stretch.

In addition to Poss' stellar meet, junior Sam Christian had the best meet of his season. Christian was a consistent 75-78-75 (228) and placed in a tie for eighth place. His top 8 finish earns him All-MIAC honors for the first time in his career. It is also the first time this season he has posted a top 10 finish at any meet.

Coy Papachek was the third Cobber to finish in the top 20 at the meet. He fired a three-round total of 231 (76-78-77) and tied for 18th place. It is the third straight top 20 finish for Papchek who earned All-Conference honors as a freshman in 2011.

Alex Koopmeiners and Cade Montplaisir were the final members of the Cobber top 5 at the meet. Koopmeiners finished at 236 (76-78-82) and tied for 31st place while Montplaisir went 81-80-76 (237) and finished in the No.37 spot.
