Cobbers Cap Season At SJU Spring Invite
MONTICELLO, Minn. (4/29/12)—Concordia
finished off the 2011-12 season by finishing in 10th
place at the St. John's Spring Invitational on Sunday. The Cobbers
shot 300 or better in both rounds of the 36-hole, one-day event. It
is the first time this year CC has posted more than one team score
at 300 or better in a single tournament.
The tournament was shortened to a single day due to the cold and
windy weather on Saturday. Freshman Coy Papachek finished his first
collegiate season by carding a 71-75=146 and finishing in a tie for
20th place. His opening-round score of 71 is the lowest
score of the season for Papachek. It marks the fourth straight
tournament he has finished in the top 20. Papachek finishes his
season with a 76.2 average.
Senior Pat Deitz capped his celebrated career by shooting a
77-73=150. He finished in a tie for 40th place. Deitz
led the Cobbers in scoring average in 2011-12. He ended the year
with a 75.4 stroke average over his 20 rounds. Tyler Koivisto
and Andrew Whitchurch shot identical 152's and placed in a tie for
46th place. Koivisto went 77-75 while Whitchurch had a
